On Monday afternoon, the men’s tennis team kicked off their season against Baldwin at home without losing a single match.

Mike Chutko and Martin Varys took control with a 6-0 first set and finished off their match opponents with a 6-1 victory. Grant Treager and Ryan Balog also breezed by, with 6-2 and 6-1 blowouts. Pablo Raúl Morcate had to work to win his first set 7-5, but settled down and finished with a 6-2 second set. Dan Schmidt was determined to not give up a single game on Monday, with a shutout 6-0, 6-0. Finally Helena Varys, playing with the boys, crushed her opponent with a 6-2, 6-0 win.

The boys will face host Peters Township on Wednesday and will face their first section opponent, Seneca Valley, on Friday.
