Two North Hills freshmen, Will Huffmyer and Luke Belanger, were finalists for this year’s Shakespeare Monologue and Scene Contest at the O’Reilly Theater.

Students from grades 4 to 12 were able to perform a five minute monologue or a scene from any Shakespeare work. The two performed a scene from Two Gentlemen from Verona, and qualified as finalists after beating out hundreds of performers in the qualifying round. Unfortunately, Luke and Will were unable to advance any further.

“The overall experience was fantastic,” said Luke. “Getting to go after school and hang out with Will and do something we both enjoy was amazing.” Will and Luke hope to participate next year in the competition and return to North Hills with a victory.
