Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s just about time to carve and decorate pumpkins! Since you may not have a lot of time on your hands or you just don’t want to have to clean up the pumpkin guts, you might not want to go through the hassle of carving a pumpkin. But with these 5 decorating ideas for pumpkins, decorating pumpkins will be fast, easy, and just as fun!

Pumpkin Decorating Idea One: Mummy

Let’s start out with a classic. For this design, all you will need is gauze. Wrap the pumpkin in the gauze, and you can choose whether or not you want to add eyes or a mouth.

Pumpkin Decorating Idea Two: Spider

What you will need for this design is a relatively small pumpkin, black paint, and paper clips. Googly eyes are also a fun add-on. First, paint the pumpkin black. Then, bend the paper clips so that they form a straight line. Stick the straightened paper clips in the pumpkin just far enough so that the paper clip will not fall out. Bend the paper clips so that they look like they are legs supporting the pumpkin. Finally, if you wish to add the googly eyes, glue them on the top of the pumpkin.

Pumpkin Decorating Idea Three: Mosaic

For this design, you will need cutouts of shapes. You may also need glue and paint. If you choose to paint the pumpkin, then that will be your first step. After the paint has dried, begin to glue (or stick on) the shapes. Make sure that there is a pretty even amount of space kept in between the shapes. If you do not want the spacing in between the shapes, you can opt for more of a collage design.

Pumpkin Decorating Idea Four: Bat Tree

This is a design that will include a little “carving.” You will need a pumpkin, sticks, string, paper, and a carving tool. First, cut the top of the pumpkin off by cutting around the stem. It is optional as to whether to take out the pumpkin guts or not. If this pumpkin is going within your home, I would recommend cleaning the inside of the pumpkin first. Next, find some sticks from outside and put them in the hole that is left after removing the stem. Then, cut out bat shapes from the paper. Cut a hole in the paper bat and tie one end of the string to it. Next, tie the other end of the string to one of the ends of the sticks. Repeat this step until you have the desired amount of bats on the “tree.” This design also works well with shapes other than bats.

Pumpkin Decorating Idea Five: Donut

This is a fairly simple design, as all you will need is paint. A paint brush will also be useful. Choose an icing color for your donut, and paint a line that splits the pumpkin into bottom and top. Paint the top of the pumpkin with the chosen icing color. Then, choosing multiple colors, add little lines on the icing for sprinkles.
