Last week, Mark Madden visited North Hills High School during the Journalism courses’ fifth Professional Friday workshop.

During first period on Friday, April 5, WXDX’s radio host talked about his career, and experiences and answered questions during a Q&A session with North Hills students from various classes. Students from Ms. Kunselman’s journalism classes, Mr. Palano’s Sports and Entertainment Marketing classes, and Mr. Bellisimo’s Television Productions classes had the opportunity to listen to guest speaker Madden.

Madden opened up his guest speaking appearance by talking about his experiences throughout his career in broadcasting and radio. He talked about his current days as a radio host at 105.9 the X, along with his past days at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, World Championship Wrestling, ESPN, and Beaver County Times. At the conclusion of Madden’s session Principal Mr. John Kreider and School Board President Mr. Ed Wielgus presented Madden with an honorary North Hills diploma.

After exchanging emails with journalism teacher Ms. Kunselman, Madden agreed to come in as a guest speaker as part of the Professional Friday series.

Friday afternoon on the show, Madden mentioned North Hills and the students at the presentation as one of the headlines of his show. On top of shout-outs to Matt Whalen and Ms. Kunselman, Madden praised North Hills for how much he liked the school spirit and how nice the students and teachers are.

Up next, Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette will visit Journalism students this Friday, April 11 as part of the Professional Friday series.
