The North Hills Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team played against Shaler last night at Martorelli Stadium. The team brought the game to a win with a final score of 16-4 and many exciting plays.
One of the Co-Captains Abby Krogmann scored nine of the goals to help lead them to their victory. The girls definitely enjoyed beating Shaler because they’re North Hills’ rivals, after all.
Captain Hailey Coyne, who scored her 50th goal this season, is no longer able to play after tearing her ACL in the second quarter in the match against Taylor Allderdice High School. Coyne says of her injury, “It has affected me in a lot of different ways, but mostly it has shown me that I am not alone! So many people have come together to support me as I was going through a very rough time when it all first happened. I am forever grateful for everyone who did that and everyone who was there to help and still is!” Coyne is proud of her team and says, “I feel as if it affected my team in different ways, as some positions had to change. But the team is very strong, and they can overcome any play or change.” Co-captain Gianna Reed adds, “It has been much more of an adjustment on the field than off. Off the field, Hailey still exudes leadership, so not much has changed in that regard, but on the field, I have had to take on the role of speaking Captain- which means paying much more attention to the game and referee calls in case a challenge is needed.”
The North Hills Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team has now 7 wins and 5 loses. Their next game is Thursday, April 25 against North Allegheny. If the girls play like they did against Shaler, they will definitely progress and keep the winning streak alive and possibly beat NA!
