The Phoenix Suns are one of the most polarizing teams as of late because of how they sabotaged their franchise. After reaching the NBA finals in 2021, the Suns have been nothing but a disappointment. Move after move, game after game, the Suns have failed in all the ways that you can think of.
It all started when they made a big trade where they traded for star player Kevin Durant. What made the Suns a good team was the sheer amount of depth and versatility the team had as a whole and they completely got rid of that with this move. The Suns ended up getting eliminated early in the playoffs that year and thought it was a good idea to trade for another superstar player.
That summer, the Suns traded for star guard Bradley Beal in a move which left the NBA world confused. They traded away all their depth (what was left of it) for an aging injury riddled star who was washed at this point. Beal also had a no trade clause on his contract meaning that he can’t be traded to a team unless he actually chooses what team he goes to. This move has plagued the Suns as of late by that same no trade clause leading them to not get Jimmy Butler this past trade deadline.
Then we go to this season where they started off surprisingly strong starting the season off 8-1. That did not last at all with injuries to their key players and are looking at being one of the teams that don’t end up making the playoffs. With rumors heating up about Kevin Durant wanting out of Phoenix, this suggests that the end of the Phoenix Suns is near and will go down as one of the biggest disappointments in NBA history.
