Three North Hills students were honored this past weekend for their athletics in the field of boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball.
Sophomore Jamie Halloran was honored for her spectacular season by being named to the Girls First-Team All-Section. Halloran, who was the youngest starter on the team, led the way for the girls’ squad, averaging 14 points and 10 assists per game.
“It’s an honor being named First-Team All-Section,” said Halloran. “Knowing that all my hard work has paid off is an awesome feeling.”
Joining Halloran in being named to First-Team All-Section are Taylor Brennan and Abby Gonzales of North Allegheny, Andre Lydon and Carly Harris of Shaler, Amanda Kalin of Pine-Richland, and Julia Baxter of Butler.
On the boys’ side, senior Dylan Mitchell and sophomore Shawndale Jones were Honorable Mentions for their section. The two were the main contributors for their team this year, which had some very exciting moments.
“Even though it wasn’t the end result we were looking for as a team, we had a great run in the best section in the WPIAL,” explain Mitchell. “It’s a true honor to be recognized for my play by the Quad-A coaches.”
Mitchell, who averaged 14 points and 7 assists per game, was a senior leader this year, while Jones was the leading scorer for the Indians, averaging 20 points a game.
