The 2025 MLB Playoffs are well underway and so far there have been lots of surprises. The Wild Card, NL/ALDS, and NL/ALCS games, all provided upsets, shocking moments, and other unforgettable moments. Players like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Cam Schlitler made a name for themselves in these first two rounds putting themselves on another level and players like George Springer and Max Scherzer added to their already illustrious playoff resume.
The Wild Card was definitely surprising to say the least. Three out of the four series all went to three win or go home games. The Yankees, Cubs, and Tigers all won and advanced to the next round in exciting fashion where Cam Schlittler pitched a near shutout game and punched their ticket to the ALDS. The Dodgers completely annihilated the Reds with Teoscar Hernandez getting a pair of home runs in the Wild Card round.
The ALDS and the NLDS provided unforgettable moments that the MLB world will never forget. The Yankees got completely manhandled by the Blue Jays where Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had one of the greatest playoff series ever where he hit a pair of crucial home runs to send the Blue Jays one series closer to making the World Series.
The Mariners and the Tigers competed in an unforgettable series where it was neck and neck all series where it came to another win or go home game where in the 15th inning the Mariners punched their ticket to the ALCS to face the Blue Jays.
The ALCS and the NLCS this year were both one of the greatest series in MLB playoff history. The Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers were the first to go at it. It was complete and total annihilation that the Dodgers laid out on the Brewers. It really wasn’t close during the series but the last game made it turn from a pretty uneventful series to an all time series. Shoehi Ohtani is EASILY the best baseball player in the world and after this series most are now calling him the greatest baseball player of all time. With him being a two way player, he pitched and he also was hitting this game where he recorded 10 strikeouts and had 3 home runs which is undoubtedly the greatest performance in playoff history for any player. The Dodgers for the second year in a row have made it to the World Series.
The Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners competed in an all time series that broke the hearts of a fanbase and healed the hearts of another. The Seattle Mariners had the advantage going into this series because they were playing like the better team on paper taking the first couple games of the series. The Blue Jays came back into the series winning a couple with a couple clutch home runs by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and a return to form for pitcher Max Scherzer who is definitely in his later stage of his career. Max had a handful of strikeouts that game and won the game for the Blue Jays and then the Blue Jays forced a game 7.
It was the 7th inning of Game 7 and this is where George Springer cemented himself as one of the greatest playoff performers of all time. George Springer hit the game clinching three run home run to steal the game and advance to the world series. The Blue Jays will take on the Dodgers in a World Series with many storylines.
