There are three things guaranteed in life, death, taxes, and the GOAT debate between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Whether it started at the beginning of LeBron’s career or at the later stages of his career, the GOAT debate has been going on for years at this point. As of late it has become more controversial. It has become more controversial due to how close the debate has become. Today we will be assessing both Jordan and LeBron to see who truly is the greatest of all time.
Michael Jordan is one of the most dominant and influential players that the NBA has ever seen. He was most known for winning six championships with Chicago Bulls and being undefeated in the NBA finals. Jordan defined greatness for many people in the 90’s and definitely influenced some of today’s players such as LeBron. He accomplished two three peats spanning from 1991-1993 and another one spanning from 1996-1998 which is unheard of. He didn’t have the star teammates like LeBron would eventually have in his career but that made him stand out from the rest and made his dominance more impactful. Add that to five MVP awards throughout his career and a multi time Slam Dunk Champion, he cemented himself as one the greats.
LeBron James was hyped up to the next great prospect in the NBA all the way back to when he started off high school. He was given the nickname “The Chosen One” just because of how well he played in high school. He already proved himself in becoming a difference maker in his first year in the league where he turned the Cleveland Cavaliers into a borderline playoff contending team. He then later left the Cavs and decided to join the Miami Heat and created a big 3 with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. He then became the NBA’s biggest villain and a coward at the same time. He has since rejoined the Cavs and left and joined the Lakers to win two more championships. His legacy has been saved in recent years but he has been criticized by not being as good as Jordan.
Personally in my opinion, Jordan is the greatest of all time because of his stats and impact. Jordan had a way bigger impact than LeBron especially with the Jordan shoe. Jordan was undefeated in the finals while LeBron is around 5-9. That’s just my opinion but who do you think is the greatest of all time?
