Helldivers 2 is one of the largest video games of the past few years, winning multiple awards in just the year of its release and having 40,000+ concurrent players!. Along with this, it has multiple factions, weapons, armors, emotes, and stratagems that allow for a large variety of playstyles. Recently, however, the Illuminate, one of the enemy factions, were defeated and removed from the game. It is speculated that they will be arriving around the 13th with a much larger army and more enemies that may require players to change their playstyles and strategies. My favorite thing about the warbond is the new R-2 Amendment and G-142 Pyrotech grenade. The R-2 Amendment looks and functions similarly to an M14, but instead it uses a side magazine. It also has a bayonet, something that only the 2124-Constitution holds. With this, along with the name, it appears as though it is an upgrade to the Constitution, which has been incredibly underpowered throughout its history in the game. The other weapon that I’m excited about is the Pyrotech grenade, which appears to spin around very fast, spewing sparks and flames in a large area before it finally explodes. I doubt it will be as useful against heavier enemies due to its large area of effect, but it looks amazing nonetheless.
Next, I am personally very excited about the new cosmetics. I absolutely love the way the helmets and capes look, as well as the backgrounds and new character title. The capes and helmets look great and fit the theme of ceremonial military garb very well, while the title, “Decorated Hero”, sounds amazing.
Finally, I am kind-of disappointed by the new armor perks and stratagem. The new armor passive, Reinforced Epaulettes, might become one of the worst in the game if it isn’t buffed. The stratagem is a big flag-spear hybrid, which is very democratic, but that’s it. It doesn’t have any other buffs or additions as far as I am aware, so it is just a flag of Super Earth with a spear on the end. While I do think the armors and flag look awesome, they are so ineffective that taking them in might actively make each operation much harder.
Overall, I like the warbond and what it is bringing. I am looking forward to the new R-2 Amendment and G-142 Pyrotech, and I think that the sword will be fun to play around with. I will also still use the helmets and capes with different matching armors to keep the aesthetic while still having a good armor buff. I don’t think that I will personally use the flag stratagem, but if somebody else wants a challenge and thinks it would be fun, it’s a good thing that the game allows for it.
