The Nintendo Switch 2 has been one of the most hyped up video game consoles of all time. Following Nintendo’s biggest success with the Nintendo Switch, there has been a lot of pressure put on them to provide an affordable and easy to access console. They had one job to do and they couldn’t even live up to it.
Nintendo had their Nintendo Direct presentation on Wednesday for the Switch 2 which focused on the console’s new features and the new games that will be released for the console. They revealed a new Game Chat feature where you can chat with your friends and family from across the world. They also revealed a bunch of new games like a new Mario Kart with Mario Kart World and a brand new Donkey Kong game with Donkey Kong Bananza just to name a few.
The main controversy is when it comes to the price of the console and the games. The Switch 2 console itself costs $450 with some of the games (like the aforementioned Mario Kart World) costing a whopping $80, $10 more than the average video game these days. The entire video game world is fuming at the idea of games costing $80 dollars which is making them question out of all the major video game publishers, Nintendo is the one who raises their prices.
The main reasoning behind this is that people are speculating about the tariffs that were recently put in place, which is understandable. However in today’s economy, that pricing is completely unacceptable. Nintendo is deciding to abuse their power because of their success and they are trying to push their luck and I hope it hits them right in the face. And now because of even more tariffs they have delayed the pre order date for Switch 2 and probably will raise the prices even higher than they already are.
