The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a historic start to the 2025 season so far, starting off 8-0. This start is no surprise as they are red hot after a championship season. With star players such as Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and a once in a millennium talent Shohei Ohtani, this team is borderline unbeatable. Add those great hitters with a very deep bullpen including starters Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Clayton Kershaw, and closers such as Kirby Yates and Tanner Scott.
The Dodgers, however, are a prime example of how you can buy talent. In the MLB, there is no salary cap for teams that need to be restricted in signing players. Unlike the MLB, the NBA and NFL have perfectly executed a way where a salary cap could work, which leads to more teams getting star talent and overall becoming more competitive leagues. The Dodgers, only because they are in LA and also they have the best player of our generation, have been able to sign star player after star player with no real consequence.
This creates an unbalanced league and it also creates a shift to where all the superstar players go onto one team. Negatives aside, this team is one of the most generational teams ever all around. This team got, easily, 10 times better than last year’s team, which won the championship. If they don’t win the World Series this season, this team will definitely be the most disappointing team in not just MLB history but in sports history as a whole.
