On Thursday, May 9th, the annual North Hills Varsity Baseball Senior Night will take place at John Herb Field before the team takes on Penn Hills at 6:00 in celebration of the last four years of hard work and success for our seniors.
Senior night is a monumental occasion for any high school athlete, as it is the culmination of all the time and effort one has put into the sport and an opportunity to be recognized by your peers, family, and community. It’s especially exciting as this season has been one of the best in recent years for North Hills baseball and is largely thanks to our seniors, who have been playing extremely well and have created an atmosphere that makes it must watch baseball.
Senior and starting pitcher Jake Pollaro is looking forward to this monumental game. “Senior Night is definitely important to me and my teammates and is something I’ve been waiting for my whole high school career, but right now we’re more focused on playoffs and our post-season success,” he explains. This focus has played a huge part in their season, as they finished as co-champions in section play, featuring wins over top teams like Shaler and West Allegheny.
Even more important than the wins they’ve gotten this season are the bonds and friendships they have made, says senior Logan Filipcic. “This season has been a highlight of my senior year that I will cherish. Being able to make the playoffs with my friends my senior year has truly been special, especially doing it with the friends that I grew up with,” he says.
There will also be games, prizes, and other exciting events taking place and being held by our CHS Sports, Arts, & Entertainment Management class, so make sure to be there and support our players!
