There’s three things that are guaranteed in life: death, taxes, and the North Hills Girls Varsity Softball Team handling business.
The girls improved to ten and two on the year after a dominant Senior Night performance in a
ten to zero win against Fox Chapel. Abby Sutton did Abby Sutton things on the mound, going five strong innings surrendering only one hit. Seniors Savanna Bodnar and Kaylee Bischoff both had base knocks and batted in runs of their own. Not to mention Lily Adamski and Addison Wrigley combining for five hits and a handful of runs batted in. With that being said, ladies and gentlemen, the Indians are red hot once again, and nobody should be surprised. Just look at who’s leading the pack.
Let me introduce you to Mrs. Libby Gasior, head coach of the North Hills Girls Varsity Softball Team. I had the opportunity to speak with Coach Gasior after Friday’s game, and I am here to confirm that she is every bit as intense as a human as she is on the softball field. This is a coach that, on game days, wakes up at five in the morning to work out, and then makes sure that she has “five hundred calories burned by nine in the morning.” It just makes sense. Some people are just built differently. And those types of people always make great leaders. “It doesn’t matter who the opposition is, we have to overcome” is a message that Gasior emphasizes to her team before every game. It’s a simple approach, but a violent one. The tone that Gasior has set for the program gives us all the answer to why North Hills has been at the top of the pack in recent years. And if the girls keep riding this wave, they might just end up on top again.
