With our Girls Basketball team’s recent historical WPIAL win, a lot of eyes are on the athletes, one the seniors on the team is Mallory Pierce. If you are a student at North Hills you have definitely seen Mallory on the field or court at some point. Aside from basketball, Pierce plays tennis, club softball, and lacrosse. With her year-round busy schedule, Mallory balances it all with the help of study halls in order to stay on top of her school work. Mallory is not only incredible at the sports she plays but is equally as dedicated to her academics and is very intelligent. Mallory’s best advice for those who are struggling with balancing their busy schedules is “take (it) one step at a time.” Gaining athletic motivation from her sister, Mallory began playing basketball in 3rd grade. Her favorite childhood sports memory is when she won her first trophy. Today, she considers making Second Team All Section for lacrosse her junior year to be her greatest athletic achievement. Mallory believes that being surrounded by friends is the best part of being an athlete. When asked how she would encourage a younger student to participate in sports in high school she says, “it is a great way to make friends and can take your mind off things.” After graduating this spring, Mallory plans to attend college for Mechanical Engineering. Tonight, February 23rd, the Girls Basketball team will be taking on Oakland Catholic at Fox Chapel Area High School at 6pm, be there to support Mallory and the rest of the team!
