If you’re interested in getting your money’s worth from a dining experience, I highly recommend checking out The Melting Pot, located in Station Square, Pittsburgh. The restaurant’s service and decor set you in an elegant ambiance, while the interactivity of fondue gives you the chance to be a kid and play with your food. Although this isn’t a casual dining place, it certainly makes for a great family dinner given that the restaurant is advertised to all ages.
Let’s start off with my favorite feature of this fantastic restaurant, interactivity. No matter how many courses you choose, each meal has a special feature. The cheese dip, although it’s the plainest in my opinion, gives you the opportunity to swirl around your veggies and bread in a delicious blend of savory cheeses. The Melting Pot’s menu serves a wide variety of flavors by giving their customers several types of fondue. The second meal on the menu features cooking your own food, whether you choose a broth or a simple skillet. Just like the cheeses, there are many entree options which include an array of meats. All the meals have pre-made lists of foods included with the fondue, however the entrée section gives the customers a chance to build their own plates. Here’s where you can make your meal have a fancier, more established feel. The menu offers a small section of bonus add on items, which include your expensive seafood and steak. Lastly my favorite, the dessert portion. The delectable chocolate can be swirled with your choice of toppings. I tried their s’mores option and the attention to detail blew me away. The dish was exactly presented just as the menu depicted it. Gooey marshmallow fluff swirled in rich milk chocolate and topped with crunchy graham cracker pieces. It really can’t get better than that. Oh wait, yes it can. Every s’mores pot is lit on fire! That simple touch torched the fluff and gave the fondue a perfect smoky campfire taste.
This restaurant truly doesn’t lack in its effort to please, and their staff members are extremely genuine and respectful workers. As a first time customer, I was confused by the menu’s layout, but luckily my waitress explained in detail all of the options and even recommended some of her favorites. While asking what I would like to drink, she noticed I was underage and offered two of their specialty lemonades that were not listed on the menu. Given that it was my first time eating there I was unaware of how to turn on the burners, thankfully the staff does it all for you. They come around to each table to check and turn down the heat every few minutes. This allowed me to enjoy my meal without being worried about burning my food.
The Melting Pot has one of the best dining experiences that I’ve ever encountered. From the service, to the taste, and of course the interactivity, this restaurant is one that I would never pass up. If you happen to find yourself booking a reservation, I highly recommend ordering one cheese and one chocolate dip. It’s the perfect combination to leave you feeling filled with a
cheaper bill.
