Should Disney Keep Making Original Movies?

With the new Disney movie announcements including the new Little Mermaid Movie coming to light many people are wondering should Disney should keep remaking the original Movies?

It is obvious that Disney should keep making these movies because it brings back the magic many people felt with the original movies. The new movies set to release are: Disney’s Wish – November 22, 2023; Pixar’s Elio – March 1, 2024; Disney’s Snow White – March 22, 2024; Pixar’s Inside Out 2 – June 14, 2024; and Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King – July 5, 2024. Some of these movies are new movies; however, Snow White, Mufasa, and The Little Mermaid are directly related to the classics. This brings back the magic we all have felt when we first watched these movies. Also, creating these new classics gets younger people to love the characters we have loved for generations. The new Little Mermaid Movie is set to splash in theaters May 26, 2023. Many people are excited about this movie in particular because the lead actor is a woman of color. This is the first time a person of color is playing a traditionally white princess. This creates a sense of diversity never seen before in the Disney classics. Casting different types of characters makes the live action movies different from the original movie. This sense of diversity represses critics remarks about live action movies being too similar to the original. After seeing the trailer of this movie, many people like myself are amazed by the voice of the lead actress Halle Bailey. Part of Your World is going to make a few people cry after she sings it. She truly fits the bill of being a mermaid. Additionally, there is hype around Ursula who is played by Melissa McCarthy. One of the funniest actors in Hollywood, I am so excited to see her as a villain. Melissa McCarthy is changing her niche of movies from Bridesmaids, Spy, and the Heat to The Little Mermaid, and let’s be honest we are all here for it. After watching the trailer, you are truly transported into the sea. The turtles feel like they are swimming up to you; just like in real life. And the ocean floor just looks magical. And everyone can agree that flounder looks as cute as he does in the original movie. People of all ages love Disney movies, including teens who want to keep a part of their childhood with them. Many people fear that Disney is running out of ideas and ruining the original movies. However, this is far from the truth, Disney is capitalizing on classics that everyone knows and loves. All in all, Disney remaking live action remakes of classics, like The Little Mermaid, lets people of all ages enjoy the magic of Disney.
