Sports Roundtable 3/2

Jake’s question: Who do you think will win the NBA finals this year?

WB: I think the Brooklyn Nets will win the NBA Finals, because they just gained three all stars within the past few years.

EC: I think the Los Angeles Lakers will beat the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA Finals. The Lakers are looking to repeat from last year’s championship win and their team has only gotten better.

BM: I think the Charlotte Hornets will beat the Lakers in the NBA Finals. Neither Anthony Davis, nor Lebron James can guard next year’s MVP, Lamelo Ball.

Ethan’s question: Who will be the NBA’s Most Valuable Player?

JR: Joel Embiid is who I believe will take it home, the polls say he is leading the pack, and I have to agree.

WB: I think Steph Curry will be the MVP if he continues to play at his current pace. He is averaging 24 points per game and has had multiple very high scoring games this season.

BM: I believe Julius Randle will win MVP. Leading a Knicks team to a record of over .500 is nearly impossible, and he is averaging a double double while carrying them to a soon to be playoff spot.

Will’s question: Who is the greatest basketball player of all time?

JR: Personally, I believe LeBron James is the greatest player of all time, but I believe Michael Jordan did more for the game of basketball.

EC: In my humble opinion, Lebron is the GOAT. Lebron has been to the finals 10 times and he has won 4 of those times. Jordan fans always say “but Jordan is 6/6 in the finals”, so my response is that Jordan lost before he could get to the finals many times. And he never could do anything without Scottie Pippen. Lebron won championships for three different organizations, proving that he can win anywhere with anyone.

BM: MJ the goat, Lebron at two, and Kareem at three.

No debate.

Brandon’s Question: Who will be the NBA’s Rookie of the Year?

JR: LaMelo Ball, end of story.

EC:LaMelo Ball is the ROTY and it is not really close. He is leading all rookies in most categories and is a lot more mature than most of the other rookies.

WB: I think Anthony Edwards is a solid case for Rookie of The Year, he had a slow start but it is definitely improving as the season goes on. Overall though, I think Lamelo Ball will end up winning the award.
