Hidden at the bottom of the Hilltop, located at 96 Rochester Road, lies a nice little restaurant named the North Hills Grill. It is a locally owned place, which features a variety of foods. If you want a fresh, tasty, and satisfying meal for a great price, this is the right place for you.
When I talked with the owner about why he opened the restaurant, he said that he wanted to open a place that offered healthy food that was affordable and would make customers happy. He also stated that he wanted to be different than places like Panera Bread, where they package everything; so, he makes every one of his meals from scratch. The owner actually started out as an accountant and did not think that he would open a restaurant. But you wouldn’t be able to tell, since the food is pretty tasty.
As you come through the entrance of the building, you will see a counter in front of a huge whiteboard. Listed right there is the menu, which contains items such as burgers, gyros, soups, wraps, salads and sandwiches. I personally had a lamb gyro with a side of fresh-cut fries for $7.00. This is actually the average price for a food item on the menu. It was pretty good; the lamb mixed perfectly with the sauce, tomatoes, and the lettuce. I also was given a very generous portion of food; it was hard to fit all the meat into the pita at the same time. However, the big hit was the sweet potato fries. What made them so tasty, according to my guests, was that they were seasoned with brown sugar. This gave them a nice, sweet taste.
The inside has a welcoming atmosphere. On the side is a little lounge area with a sofa, some chairs, and a table with a pile of magazines. It even has free Wi-Fi. The walls are painted with bright colors and on the walls are pictures of fruits and vegetables. I did not have to wait for a while for my food- after I ordered, I only had to wait for about 10 minutes.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good and healthy meal that is different than the usual chain restaurant. I’ll give it 2 and ½ stars out of 4. If you are just coming from school or any after-school activity, check out the North Hills Grill; you know it’s good if the name rhymes.
