Honors+Orchestra+held+at+Mars

Nine students from the Symphonic Orchestra represented North Hills at honors orchestra, Strings North, held at Mars Area High School on Monday, April 7.

Sophomores Steven Liao and  Stephanie Latona and freshmen Mariana Gowdy and Amber Kerekes were the violinists. Junior Brandon Falcona and senior Tayler Kerekes were the two violists. Junio Ryan Balog and freshman Liam Craft played their cellos, and senior Nick Linder was on bass.

Ten school districts and conductors came together for the festival.   Conductors included Ron Molinaro of Mars Area, Allison Tiangco of North Hills, Bonnie Myers-Toward of South Butler, and Megan Taylor of Moon Area.  Also included in the concert were Katelyn Panza of Pine-Richland, Ellen Spondike of Shaler Area Middle School, Leanne Scholl of Deer Lakes, and Cory Neville of Quaker Valley.

Works in the concert included “Isle of the Skye” by Doris Gazda, “Brandenburg Concerto #4” by J.S. Bach, “Plink Plank Plunk” by Leroy Anderson, “Blue Rhythmico” by Kirt N. Mosier, “Postcards from Russia” arranged by Carrie Lane Gruselle, “Sweet Child O Mine” by Guns N’ Roses, and  “Sinfonia in Major” by J.C. Bach.
