North Hills Symphonic Choir prepares for annual Cabaret Night

The North Hills symphonic choir is gearing up for its annual Cabaret Night, scheduled for Friday, March 7th, in Cafeteria A. The event is held to raise funds for the choir. The $5 tickets cover a night of student performances and a large assortment of cookies and other refreshments.

The premise of Cabaret Night is much like that of an open mic night, where students prepare their songs in advance and are not confined by any certain style of music, although most students choose to play acoustic selections. The event not only promotes the students, but it also educates them. While giving the choir an opportunity to showcase its talent, it also gives students the opportunity to gain experience performing in front of a live audience.

The proceeds collected from Cabaret Night go toward the choir’s Disney World trip set for the end of April. Although it is a fun break for the students, it is also meant to be an educational experience. In the park, students will attend workshops about vocal performance from the experts at Disney Studios. The students will then have the opportunity to perform for park visitors in Epcot.
