Christmas Can Wait

Christmas Can Wait

Christmas is only one day of the year, so why do people spend ¼ of the year anticipating it’s arrival? Why do we rush into the holiday of Christmas so much? Yes it is an important holiday, but it’s also on December 25th, not in November. The day after Halloween, a friend said to me, “I kind of want to put up my Christmas tree today”, and my reaction was, “Are you kidding me, yesterday was Halloween?!” On November 1st, people start decorating for Christmas, listening to Christmas music, and many stores are packed with Christmas decor, including the mall. When I went to the mall there was not only Christmas songs playing throughout it, but decorations hanging from ceiling and wrapped around the rafters and Santa Claus was already in his big, red velvet chair, taking pictures with kids!

The month of November should be about Thanksgiving, and people should not be rushing through the whole month, skipping an important holiday that we should be thankful for, literally. Thanksgiving is about being thankful for the people and things in your life, so are we skipping that now? Why do people even rush to Christmas? Christmas is a major holiday. It is celebrated all over the world, from Indonesia, to South Africa, to here in the U.S. It is always fun to get in the holiday spirit, and enjoy Christmas traditions such as, putting up the Christmas tree, watching ABC Family’s 25 Days Of Christmas, decorating your house with lights, or doing something special that your family turned into a tradition. People should stop rushing through November, and enjoy it; be appreciative of friends and family and just wait until November 27th to play “All I Want For Christmas Is You!”
